Join the Celebration – RBI Opening Day
Each year, the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City looks forward to the spring as it means the start of the baseball and softball season. This year, we are leading off with a one-of-a-kind celebration and we want everyone to join.
On June 1, 2014, friends, family and all our RBI fans are invited out to Satchel Paige Stadium to celebrate RBI Opening Day! The opening day celebration will be a fun afternoon full of activities as we share the excitement of the 2014 RBI season.
The Opening Day celebration will begin at 3:00 PM. Four of RBI teams from the Buck O’Neil division will compete that evening, with the first game starting at 5:00 PM and the second game starting at 7:00 PM. Guests at the event can enjoy pre-game activities such as trivia contests, giveaways, face painting, music and much more. DJ John Blaze from KPRS Hot 103 Jamz will serve as the emcee for day and guests will be treated to free Buffalo Wild Wings, while supplies last.
Special guest, Royals legend Frank White, will be in attendance to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Thank you also to Kansas City Parks and Recreation and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum for partnering in this event. We can’t wait to celebrate the beginning of the RBI season and look forward to a summer full of fun! For more information, please contact Waymond King at (816) 462-0146.

RBI Teams Hit Success at Area Tournaments
Five of our RBI teams got a head start to the 2014 season by participating in area tournaments. Going above and beyond for their teams, our RBI coaches are using local tournaments as an opportunity to provide their players with more playing experience, more venues and more exposure in competitive tournaments. Their continued success proves their dedication to improving play and ensuring the success of their players.
The following coaches have recently participated in area tournaments:
Coach Chris Evans, Kings 8 and under, Coach Donsha Finley, Diamond Masterz machine pitch, Coach Dave Ersery, Diamond Masters 12 and under, Coach Brian Steveson, Diamond Masterz 14 and under, and Coach Michael Mayberry, Rangers 14 and under. Thank you to all of our RBI coaches for your commitment to the sport and for being a positive representation of the Kansas City, Missouri RBI league.
RBI Celebrates Graduating Seniors
As part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City, our Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities program promotes much more than just baseball and softball. RBI works to teach kids the fundamental skills they need both on and off the field. As we look to the end of the school year for the Kansas City area, we want to take a minute to recognize our RBI players who are graduating this spring. We are truly proud of each and every one of our graduating players and look forward to seeing their continued success beyond the fences.
