BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS TO HIT IT “BIG” AT 2017 KIDS NIGHT OUT EVENT WITH MUSIC GROUP LITTLE BIG TOWN
Winners of two ACM awards, an Emmy and three CMA awards, including the 2016 Vocal Group of the Year, Little Big Town to headline benefit event on April 7, 2017
Kansas City, Mo – Winners of two ACM awards, an Emmy and three CMA awards, including the 2016 CMA Vocal Group of the Year award, Little Big Town is set to headline the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City’s 2017 Kids Night Out event at the Overland Park Convention Center in Overland Park, KS on Friday, April 7, 2017. The evening will include a private acoustic performance and a question and answer session. Presented by DST with Honorary Chairs Nancy and Steve Hooley, the 2017 Kids Night Out event will raise funds to support the annual operating budget of six area Club locations serving nearly 1,000 youth each day – and all money raised stays right here in Kansas City.
“Our annual Kids Night Out event is rated as one of the top galas in the Greater Kansas City area,” said David A. Smith, President and Club Alumnus of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City. “Each year, we bring the brightest stars and best performers to Kansas City to inspire hope and create opportunities for thousands of young people served by the Clubs.”
Grammy Award-winning group, Little Big Town — consisting of members Karen Fairchild, Phillip Sweet, Kimberly Schlapman, and Jimi Westbrook — first entered the music scene more than 18 years ago with hits such as “Boondocks,” “Bring It On Home,” “Good As Gone” and the Grammy-nominated single “Little White Church.” Little Big Town has earned almost 40 award show nominations and in the past five years has taken home nearly 20 awards, including multiple Grammy, CMA and ACM awards, and an Emmy award. They are the reigning CMA Vocal Group of the Year and recently won the same award for the fifth consecutive year.
For more than one hundred years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City has provided youth, ages 5-18, with special emphasis on youth from disadvantaged circumstances, a fun and safe environment for to learn, play, meet new friends and grow. From sports, digital arts and media to group activities and tutoring, the Clubs provide a caring adult mentors, friendship, and high-impact youth development programs on a daily basis during critical non-school hours. Priority programs emphasize academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles to nearly 1,000 area youth each day. Whether it is learning how an individual can make a difference in his/her community or learning how to swim – the Clubs strive to help youth feel important and put their dreams of a Great Future within reach.
