Developing strong character and leadership skills is central to the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City. Through our service-oriented programs, Club members learn how to lead, take initiative, and make a lasting impact in their communities.
Junior Youth of the Year:
Building Tomorrow’s Leaders Today
The Junior Youth of the Year program is designed for members ages 10–13 to build foundational leadership skills and prepare for future opportunities. Participants explore core leadership concepts, develop confidence, and engage in activities that highlight their unique strengths and potential. This program not only equips youth with the tools to excel in the Youth of the Year program but also empowers them to become positive role models in their communities.
Keystone Club:
Leading Through Service
Designed for teens ages 14-18, Keystone Club encourages leadership through community service, academic success, and career preparation. Members have the opportunity to plan and execute service projects, engage in career development activities, and build leadership skills. Keystone Club members can also attend regional and national conferences, connecting with peers and expanding their leadership potential.
Torch Club:
Building Leadership in Youth
A leadership program for members ages 11-13, Torch Club introduces young members to the importance of community service, leadership, and teamwork. Members actively plan and carry out service projects, helping them develop responsibility, self-esteem, and collaboration skills. Torch Club provides a foundation for leadership as they transition into more advanced programs like Keystone Club.
Youth of the Year:
Honoring Excellence in Leadership and Service
The Youth of the Year program is a prestigious recognition initiative that celebrates teens who exemplify leadership, service, academic excellence, and a commitment to a healthy lifestyle. Open to teens ages 14-18, the program encourages members to reach their fullest potential, preparing them for success beyond the Club. Youth who excel in this program advance to state and regional events, with the opportunity to compete for the National Youth of the Year title, gaining scholarships and national recognition.
