Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City Celebrates 2023 Alumni Hall of Fame Trailblazers

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI, November 15, 2023 –

In a celebrated announcement, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City proudly introduces the distinguished honorees for the 2023 Alumni Hall of Fame: Missouri House Representative Richard Brown and Roshann Parris.

“We are delighted to recognize two exceptional individuals in this year’s class,” said Jason Roth, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City. “For over a century, our Clubs have positively impacted countless children in the community. It’s essential that we honor those whose time and talent serve as a true inspiration for our members, affirming that dreams are achievable. We are immensely proud and grateful for our esteemed alumni and friends.”

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City Alumni Hall of Fame is the highest accolade bestowed upon former Club members or dedicated supporters. It signifies outstanding personal and professional achievements, coupled with an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of children and youth in the community.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Representative Richard Brown, a Democrat from Jackson County, represents Southeast Kansas City in the Missouri House of Representatives. A former member of the John Thornberry 43rd Street Boys Club, Rep. Brown attributes his professional success to his early experiences with the Boys Club shaping his future. A devoted public school teacher for 23 years in Kansas City Public Schools, Rep. Brown is known for his commitment to education and public service. As a candidate for Missouri Lieutenant Governor in the upcoming August 2024 election, he continues to strive for the well-being of all Missourians.

Roshann Parris is Founder and CEO of Parris Communications Inc., a Kansas City-based public relations and strategic communications firm now celebrating its 35th year. While managing her firm, she has simultaneously maintained an active Washington, D.C.-based national service career. She has held senior roles on 11 presidential campaign staffs and has served as Lead Advance on the International White House Presidential Advance Team for Presidents Clinton, Obama and Biden, accompanying them to over 60 countries worldwide. Roshann has proudly been part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City family for over 30 years. She served on the Board of Directors for over a quarter century and helped lead the charge on Kids Night Out for well over a decade. She led the all-star event for the Clubs’ Centennial Celebration in 2012 when the event broke the $1 million barrier for the first time.
