About the Breidenthal Unit
The first Breidenthal Club opened in Northwest Middle School and over the next 10 years operated out of a number of locations including 6 years in the J.F. Kennedy Recreation Center. In 2006, an LLC was established with the Mount Carmel Church of God in Christ (Community Development Corporation) resulting in the new $7.5 million Breidenthal Youth & Families Community Center which housed the Breidenthal Unit and Community Development Corporation programming. In 2019, the Club was rededicated the “Breidenthal Unit” in honor of George Breidenthal and the Breidenthal family.
