Leading the way
Dreams come true when you volunteer at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City
Someone to listen. Someone to ask about their day, their hopes, their dreams. Someone to care. It sounds so simple, but every minute spent with a nurturing adult makes a lifetime of difference for a child or teen in need.
You can be that person when you become a Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City volunteer.
How to volunteer at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City
There are so many ways that you can lend your talents:
Help in the classroom and while members work through the SMARTS and Positive Action program materials.
Help teens explore job opportunities through company tours and experiences following and observing experienced employees in desired fields.
Life Coach Mentoring
Spend a few hours a month building a one-on-one bond with a teen member, helping with homework, shooting hoops, or just talking about life.
Share your technical knowledge in one of our Clubs’ Makerspace Technology Labs and/or recording studios.
Support our major fundraising initiatives by volunteering at one or more events throughout the year, helping with registration, greeting guests, table support, and more.
RBI Coach and Sports Coaching
Invest in the lives of youth by coaching them in the value of teamwork, responsibility, good sportsmanship, and self-esteem.
Pick your favorite classroom subject and help kids work through their schoolwork.
We welcome individuals, groups and corporations ready to open their hearts and help our kids dream big.
The Volunteer Application must be completed in full to volunteer in the Clubs and guarantee prompt processing and placement. This information also keeps our Clubs in compliance with our state licenses. To ensure the safety of our members, all volunteer applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Simply complete the Boys & Girls Club Volunteer Application and attach a photocopy of your driver’s license or Social Security card. The screening process may take up to three weeks. Once approved, we’ll set you up to attend an orientation session and then place you in a rewarding position that fits your interests and schedule.
Please be advised that all volunteers working directly with our youth must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. However, if you have a medical or religious exemption, we do have a form that you must complete and submit to the Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteers not working directly with youth do not have to be vaccinated. We do ask that all volunteers working within the Clubs wear a mask per our Club guidelines.
